Believe. Achieve. Read

Guided by Science, Grounded in Compassion

Growing up as a struggling reader was incredibly difficult. I remember the shame, the confusion, and the constant question in my mind: Why can’t my brain read like everyone else’s? While other students seemed to pick up reading naturally, I worked twice as hard just to keep up. It wasn’t just academic—it affected my confidence and shaped how I saw myself as a learner.

At one point, I was even told I would never become a teacher. That belief could have defined my path—but it didn’t.

Not only did I become a teacher, I am now a professor of education and a dedicated dyslexia advocate. My personal journey with dyslexia is the reason I do this work. I want children—and adults—to understand their brains, recognize their strengths, and know that a learning difference does not limit their potential. You can succeed in whatever you choose to do.

The difference lies in having the right tools. For many learners, especially dyslexic learners, reading must be taught systematically and explicitly, giving access to the written code. When we provide this, we change lives.

This work is personal. It’s a reminder to every struggling reader: your story is not finished—you are capable, and with the right support, you can thrive. And I can help!
